What to Expect
If this is your first massage or just your first massage with us, it's completely normal to be a little anxious not knowing fully what to expect during your first visit. And that's okay. We are here to help with first time jitters, we've all been exactly where you are right now. When you arrive someone will great you as you enter our office, they will ask your name and if you have a scheduled appointment and if you are a new client. If so, you will be asked to fill out a basic client information form which will include, your name, d.o.b. some appropriate health and background information to let us better serve you. You'll be asked if you'd like to visit the restroom before your session begins. Your massage therapist will receive your client folder and call your name to go into your treatment room. Once inside the room, he or she will go over the information you provided on your form. They will discuss with you the purpose of your visit, whether it be to relax, to relieve pains, etc. Now is the time you can make any special requests you may need, such as "Please do not massage my feet" or "Can we focus more time on my back than working on my arms". Every massage can be tailored to your needs. They will instruct you to disrobe to your comfort level and (usually starting laying face down) lie face down under the sheets. They will excuse themselves and knock and ask if you are ready for them to enter in a couple of minutes. Your massage will begin and anything the therapist needs you to do will be asked during the session, such as to turn over or to lift your feet, etc. After your massage they will excuse themselves and you may begin to get dressed and come back into the lobby to make any final payments or to schedule your next appointment. PLEASE we urge you, at anytime if your therapist is not using enough or too much pressure please do not hesitate to say something to them, they are completely trained to be able to adjust to your needs, and this will in no way offend them!
Things Clients Always Want to Know but Never Want to Ask
Do people fall asleep during their massage?
Of course, but don't worry, your therapist will keep doing their job while you get some much needed rest.
Should I talk during my massage?
That's completely up to you. We love chatting with our clients about anything and everything, but this is your session and if you want peace and quiet that's exactly what you should receive. If at any point and time you've realized you opened that window of chatting and the therapist keeps talking and talking, by all means do not hesitate to say, "Do you mind if we have some quiet time for the rest of my session". Trust me when I say, "we will not be at all offended".
Is it okay to tell the therapist they are using too much or too little pressure, or I feel like I need more work here or there?
Do people really get naked/are we supposed to?
Everyday. Again, that's completely up to you. To work certain areas of the body it is easier without excess clothing in the way, but we are more than capable of working around the clothing you want to keep on. You will be properly draped with the sheets in a way that does not expose any unmentionables. So do not worry, even if you decide to undress completely, I like to tell my clients, "I wont see any more than somebody would see if you were in a bathing suit."
Will the therapist judge my body?
We see all shapes, sizes, injuries, scars, you name it. To be a successful therapist, you must love what you do, we are not here to judge a single thing on anyone. As we are not perfect ourselves and surely wouldn't want anyone judging our bodies. We love our clients and always want you to feel safe and comfortable.
What kind of massage is right for me?
If your unsure of which massage you should be getting, do not worry. simply tell us what your needs are and we will lead you in the right selection. We completely understand looking at a massage service menu is similar to going into Starbucks for the first time and trying to order something you can't even pronounce.
